Who we are
Custodians of Imbube music
Great Stars 'iJongosi' is an extraordinary music and dance ensemble specialising in Imbube / Acapella music and Southern African traditional dances — Zulu dance, gumboot dance and Isitshikitsha among them. The group began as a church group in the Silobela / Nkayi District and became Great Stars iJongosi in December 2011.
The nickname 'iJongosi' — a young, energetic bull — came from audiences who marvelled at the group's vibrant, unbeatable dance energy on stage. In 2023 the group won the Roil Bulawayo Arts Award for Outstanding Imbube / Acapella.
